Gran Vía Contrastes

Remodeling of a 75 sq.m. apartment located at Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes.

One of the challenges of this project was to transform the existing layout in order to allow more natural light into every room. We suggested to remove a few walls and thus unify spaces. This way, even though the floor space remains the same, our eye can flow more freely and the space is perceived to be bigger.

Restrained use of furniture and decor, focused on carefully selected statement pieces, also plays into the open space concept.

At this stage of the project, we were guided by our client’s excelent taste, their vision and creativity. As professionals, we believe it our mission to put designer ideas into life, but we are especially pleased when we get to enjoy this kind of symbiosis with our client.

The client was looking for colour contrast in the interior design, so we suggested painting the TV furniture the same colour as window shutters.

This vibrant tone of red has an upbeat and warm feel to it. It is also a perfect choice for accent colour that goes well with neutrals, best used for singular small pieces of furniture or decor.

Another design feature of this project that strikes the eye is extensive use of ceramic flooring, wall coverings and other elements. At our client’s request, for lighting purposes we used switches and sockets by Fontini, a manufacturer of electrical mechanisms committed to authentic and original design using traditional manufacturing processes. The ceiling lamp in the kitchen is another design highlight.

Some furniture pieces, such as the sofa in the living room or the upholstered master bedroom headboard were carefully selected so as to add colour and character to the space.

Overall, we were able to create a cozy and original space, which definitely doesn’t lack personality.
