Magdalenes, the heart of the Gothic Quarter
Major remodeling of a 100 sq.m. apartment located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.
The highlight of this project is the great variety and mix of materials and styles, which give the space a unique character.
The first thing that strikes the eye is the colour palette made of shades of blue and white. Blue is a timeless classic associated with serenity and peace. It invites us to unplug and reconnect with ourselves. A great way to play with colour is to paint a wall or ceiling and add some shiny textures that will reflect light. In this project, we opted for a winner combination of blue and golden, pops of which are introduced through accessories, including radiators, frames, lighting, bathroom accessories, faucets, and etc.
Same as most of our other projects, this one features extensive use of wood, a multifunctional material, which is equally important for interior architecture and design. In this case, its main application was flooring, but we added some more wood through pieces of furniture, windows and decorative elements for a warmer and cosier feel.
To preserve the essence of a typical Gothic quarter building, we have kept several original structures and decorative elements including exposed brick walls, windows and shutters, Catalan vaulted ceiling and wooden beams. They have undergone special treatment and maintenance to ensure a prolonged life span.
This project also features elements of industrial style, such as wrought iron. Different forms of this material have a very broad use in interior design. In this case, we used it for frames, dividers, furniture and ornaments.
