Major remodelling of a 50 m2 attic situated in the heart of the Gothic quarter, a few steps from Vía Laietana.
Keeping in mind the limited space, the main idea of the project was to transform the layout in order to make the place feel more spacious. We removed the old non-load-bearing walls and designed a new bathroom, which integrated the old washing machine closet. The result of our efforts is a modern 2-bedroom attic with bathroom, spacious living room and American kitchen.
We preserved some of the original design elements, including the traditional Catalan “bóveda” ceiling, and recovered parts of the original flooring and the white exposed brick wall. We used decoupage to treat the original carpentry pieces.
Other works included plumbing, electrical wiring, and installation of split-type conditioner. Custom furniture was made for the kitchen, which was also equipped with all the required home appliances.
